We look back on an extraordinary afternoon with the impressive debut of Sir András Schiff at Amare, The Hague. The recital was truly memorable, not only due to the length and improvisatory nature of the programme but also because of Sir András’ remarkable spoken commentaries. Perhaps further inspired by his visit to the Mauritshuis, he brought the masterpieces of Bach, Mozart, Haydn, and Beethoven to life with an unparalleled sense of nuance, depth, and tonal colour. His insights—imbued with a relaxed depth, seriousness, humour, and an impressive level of knowledge—provided the perfect framework for this exceptional musical experience.
Also noteworthy was the warmth of the audience, who, throughout the long first half (for which Sir András received a little remark backstage) and the second half, including encores, allowed themselves to be completely immersed in his musical narrative. At around half past six, the 1,500-strong audience left the hall satisfied, still savouring this unique experience.
Wij danken u hartelijk voor uw bijdrage aan dit bijzondere World Master Pianists-recital en hopen u snel weer te mogen verwelkomen!
